Star Trek: The Original Series Frank Gorshin Bele Gloves and Pants from "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield"

Presented below are some detailed photos of a set of screen-worn gloves and Danskin footed athletic tights used by Frank Gorshin in his portrayal of the half-black, half-white alien Bele from the planet Cheron in the memorable 3rd season Original Series episode "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" (first airdate: January 10, 1969).

These items recently sold after being offered on ebay and were part of a long held private collection in France. COPD: Highly Illogical Film - A Special Tribute to Leonard Nimoy

Please consider spreading the awareness about, and making a personal donation to this very worthwhile project which is presently accepting contributions via a newly initiated Indiegogo fundraising campaign.

With $300,000 raised to date through corporate sponsors, the project requires an additional $150,000 to complete tasks such as video editing, narration and sound mixing as well as marketing and distribution.

Below are some additional insights on this effort to further her father's legacy and educate us all on the nature of COPD, in the words of Leonard Nimoy's daughter Julie, who is co-producing the film along with David Knight.

A message from Julie Nimoy:

Hi, my name is Julie Nimoy. Sadly, on February 27th, I lost my dad, Leonard Nimoy, from complications arising from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)—also referred to as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Each year millions of people throughout the country, like my father, are diagnosed with this debilitating and potentially fatal illness. In fact, COPD is one of the most prevalent lung diseases diagnosed today, and the third most common cause of death in the United States.

Generations of science fiction fans know my father, Leonard Nimoy, as his iconic character Mr. Spock on the starship Enterprise. His message, “Live Long and Prosper,” has resonated through the generations and become a siren call for those of like mind.

After Dad’s untimely passing due to complications related to COPD, my husband and I committed ourselves to continuing his message through a very special project—a documentary dedicated to my father titled COPD: Highly Illogical—A Special Tribute to Leonard Nimoy.

Diagnosed with COPD in 2013, Leonard took to social and traditional media to bring this common but often undiagnosed disease to light. In his last interviews and through Twitter, he reached out to educate his fans, openly discussing COPD, which affects as many as 30 million Americans.

COPD is a complex and often insidious disease and it caught up with the universe’s favorite Vulcan. His Twitter messages, which ended with his familiar LLAP—“Live Long and Prosper”—focused on encouraging people to quit smoking and highlighted his struggles with COPD.

COPD: Highly Illogical—A Special Tribute to Leonard Nimoy is our way to continue his mission. The documentary will educate viewers about COPD through Leonard’s and other’s personal stories of courage, as well as the latest information about treatments and the quest for a cure.

More information concerning the project can be found at copdllap.com and donations can be made for the next 30 days at this Indiegogo COPD: Highly Illogical campaign webpage.
