Presented below are many detailed photographs of a William Shatner screen worn Admiral James T. Kirk Class A Starfleet uniform from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979); to be auctioned as Lot 241 in ScreenUsed's upcoming Movie Props and Wardrobe auction on March 15, 2014. This particular costume is complete with its original Starfleet insignia patch, gold rank braid on each sleeve, and attached biomonitor prop; and is considered the finest known surviving example of a Kirk TMP Class A uniform. It is being offered with an opening bid of $25,000.
As indicated in the auction catalog description, this particular costume can be screen-matched to some early sequences in the film, where the unique stitching and bordering thread patterns on its Starfleet insignia patch can be shown to precisely match high definition screen captures of William Shatner in costume.
