On Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at 10:00 am PST, Prop Store's "TV Treasures Live Auction" will commence, featuring a large selection of Golden Age and modern entertainment memorabilia that has been part of the well known Comisar Collection. A total of 61 lots of Star Trek Original Series and TOS-related items will be included in the sale; representing a wonderful offering of screen-used costumes, costume design sketches, miscellaneous jewelry and patches as well as a number of production documents and invoices that all originated from the collection of TOS Costume Designer Bill Theiss. James Comisar was instrumental in organizing the December 12, 1993 William Ware Theiss Estate Auction held in Los Angeles by Butterfield & Butterfield (which was the focus of an earlier article on this website, available at: http://www.startrekpropauthority.com/2009/08/william-ware-theiss-estate-auction-dec.html ) and several of the items in next month's sale are making their first return to the auction block since being initially sold at the estate sale 25 years ago.
The highlights of the Prop Store event include both William Shatner's and Leonard Nimoy's screen worn ancient Greek-style tunics from the 3rd season TOS episode "Plato's Stepchildren" (original airdate: Nov. 22, 1968), as well as a TOS Klingon Disruptor pistol hand prop that features provenance from the Star Trek: TMP property manager Richard Rubin. The pre-auction bid estimate on the Shatner tunic is $40,000 - $60,000; while the Nimoy tunic is estimated at $20,000 - $30,000 and the Klingon Disruptor prop has an assigned range of $30,000 - $50,000.
