Size Differences on Similar Props from Season To Season

Many collectors are not aware that different Star Trek prop and costume pieces and components sometimes underwent significant size changes from season to season. Here are some examples.

A first season TOS Starfleet insignia beside a similar third season version:

Two different size biomonitors appeared on Starfleet uniforms seen in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The smaller female version and the male version.

Some items like Isolinear computer chips witnessed tremendous size increases from the design featured in Star Trek: Generations (at left) to the chip seen in Star Trek: First Contact.

Below is a rare hero working cobra phaser (formerly part of the Rick Sternbach collection, now in the authors collection) beside a later non-working version:

And the viewscreens seen on TOS tricorders were offered in HDTV style as well as in a smaller aspect ratio :-)
