Presented below are some detailed photos of a Celia Rose Gooding screen worn Nyota Uhura Starfleet Cadet Uniform from the new Star Trek: Strange New Worlds television series, the 8th live action adventure series in the history of the franchise, which is set to premiere on Thursday, May 5, 2022 on Paramount+. This costume is currently on display in a special Strange New Worlds exhibit at Star Trek: Mission Chicago, the ViacomCBS sponsored fan convention taking place from April 8 - 10, 2022 at the massive McCormick Place center in Chicago, Illinois. This beautiful costume design features vibrant colors and an intricate fabric detail which consists of the famous TOS starfleet delta symbol as a subtle repeating decorative pattern in the red colored portions of the jacket that highlight the upper arm and shoulder areas. The red material would certainly be emblematic of the Engineering services branch of Starfleet; thus suggesting that Cadets in other fields might wear near identical tops containing vibrant yellow or blue shoulder fabric accents to denote the Command or Sciences divisions, respectively. A unique Engineering Cadet insignia badge is present on this costume, which consists of the standard Engineering delta design mounted on a rectangular multi-banded back shield. All of the Starfleet uniforms in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds are the creations of Costume Designers Bernadette Cross and Gersha Phillips in the ST:SNW Costume Department.
Special thanks to my friend and fellow Star Trek fan T.J. Babinetz, currently on site at Star Trek: Mission Chicago, for his very gracious permission to display his detailed photography of this costume in this article. Just click on any of the images below to view an enlarged version ...
